See your kids grow when working remotely

July 31, 2019

A girl left university and entered into the world of work, taking on a temporary office job. At the end of her first week at work, she phoned home in tears:

"Itโ€™s horrible, thereโ€™s no time to do anything else. Iโ€™m so tired when I get home in the evenings that all I can do is watch TV. And then I have to get up early the next morning and do it all again! If this is what work is like, I donโ€™t want to spend my whole life doing it!"

Working on a job just to pay the bills without finding any meaning in it, whatโ€™s the point? Are we working our lives away?

Thereโ€™s a shift towards working remotely. While not every position can be worked from the distance, there are a lot of jobs that can be.

Working remotely helps to mix up work with home. You can design your own day. Have lunch with your family. Walk you dog. Go play tennis when sun shines and work in the evening.

"So today was the first day where I was working from home, and I got to have lunch just me and my 8yo son. He chose McDonaldโ€™s.

I wouldnโ€™t trade that lunch for a thousand free lunches at Google, et al.

#remotework is the best."

"Remote work is honestly the best. I see so much of my wife and two kids because of it.

"Been remote for about 7 years. Has allowed me to watch both of my daughters grow up while still being a quality employee (manage to get more done from home than I did in the office, mostly thanks to not being stuck in traffic for 2 hours a day). Wouldnโ€™t change a thing!"
